At One School, One Vaccine at a Time, our mission is to bring vital wellness education, community-based resources, and routine childhood immunizations directly to students, families, and school communities across Colorado. We believe in fostering healthier communities by meeting people where they are, breaking down barriers to care, and increasing vaccine acceptance—one school at a time.

Our program works hand-in-hand with school districts, public health providers, and local partners to create safe, supportive environments for children and their families. Through culturally validated practices, we address vaccine hesitancy by ensuring that our outreach is respectful, inclusive, and sensitive to the diverse cultural needs of each community. Our multilingual teams are dedicated to understanding the unique cultural dynamics of your district and delivering healthcare in a way that builds trust and ensures accessibility.

Are you worried about your family’s health during these uncertain times? Are you looking for information that can keep your family safe? Join Julissa Soto for Vaccine Sundays and learn more about what you can do.

WHAT ARE VACCINE SUNDAYS?

Vaccine Sundays is a project designed to provide vetted information from trusted resources to the underserved Spanish-speaking community in Colorado. The goal is to make prevention education and outreach part of the Church’s ministry.

Julissa provides trusted, and vetted information on COVID-19 information that fosters preparedness rather than stoking fear and perpetuating myths. She provides information in Spanish on the signs and symptoms of COVID-19. She educates the congregation on infection prevention habits, like proper handwashing techniques and other common practices frequently taught to combat influenza. She teaches infection control strategies, provides healthful habit reminders and provides information on how to get vaccines. She also posts fliers and disseminates information regarding vaccine sites in the community.

Vaccines being available at grocery stores or “mercados” can be important for several reasons:

1. Convenience: Grocery stores are frequently visited locations, making it easier for people to get vaccinated during their regular shopping trips. This reduces the need for separate trips to clinics or vaccination centers, especially for people with busy schedules.

2. Accessibility: Grocery stores are often located in neighborhoods where healthcare facilities may be less accessible. Offering vaccines at these locations can help reach underserved communities, ensuring that more people have access to essential vaccinations.

3. Increased Coverage: By making vaccines available in popular, high-traffic areas, the overall vaccination rate in a community may increase. This is especially crucial during flu seasons or for public health campaigns like COVID-19 vaccination.

4. Reduced Barriers: Some people face barriers to healthcare, such as transportation issues, long wait times, or lack of awareness. Vaccines in grocery stores remove some of these barriers, making it easier for people to access important preventive care.

Latinos Unidos for Vaccines offers comprehensive training and technical assistance to ensure equitable immunization delivery, access, education, and communication for Latino, Spanish-speaking, and immigrant communities.

Vaccine Data and Messaging

We compile and disseminate the latest vaccine research, training resources, data, and messaging to ensure our partners and communities have access to the most up-to-date information. By focusing on the importance of "transcreation," we empower partners and providers to implement culturally and linguistically appropriate messaging, increasing vaccine rates and trust within Latino, Spanish-speaking, and immigrant communities.

Community Engagement Strategies

We develop and promote effective community-based engagement strategies, enabling our partners to turn data into actionable interventions. This includes research and promotion of programs such as Promotoras de Salud, cultural validation efforts, and other community-centric initiatives. By empowering local leaders and organizations, we enhance their ability to engage and educate their communities effectively.

We ensure that our partners are informed about critical local, state, and federal programs designed to eliminate vaccine and health disparities for Latino, Spanish-speaking, and immigrant communities.

Through ongoing education and support, we help our partners leverage these programs to maximize their impact and reach.

Program Education
