About the program

The Pharmacy Outreach Program (POP) is an innovative initiative designed to educate and inspire high school students, particularly those from BIPOC and underserved communities, to explore the diverse opportunities within the pharmacy profession. Our mission is to increase diversity among future pharmacists, foster health equity, and create a more inclusive healthcare workforce.

• Educate students about the essential roles pharmacists play in healthcare and the community.

• Provide hands-on experiences to inspire interest in pharmacy careers.

• Support high school students with resources and mentorship to navigate the path to pharmacy school.

• BIPOC and underserved high school students.

• Schools partnered across Colorado, including:

  • Cherry Creek Innovation Campus

  • Montbello High School

  • Arrupe Jesuit High School

Program Highlights

• Interactive Workshops: Engaging 90-minute sessions tailored to each school, focusing on pharmacy careers, medication safety, and clinical practice.

• Mentorship by CU Pharmacy Students: Direct guidance and inspiration from current pharmacy students.

• Hands-On Activities: From medication compounding to patient counseling simulations, students experience the realities of a pharmacy career.

Partnership with CU Anschutz School of Pharmacy
This program is powered by a collaboration with the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Colorado. Together, we are building pathways for students to succeed in healthcare.
