Council: IDDEAS Advisory Council (IAC)
We are proud to announce that Julissa Soto has been appointed to serve on the IDDEAS Advisory Council (IAC), a vital initiative under Denver Human Services (DHS), starting June 1, 2025. The appointment was made by Anne-Marie Braga, Executive Director of DHS, in recognition of Julissaโs decades-long advocacy for equity, health access, and inclusion for underserved communities across Colorado.
The IDDEAS Advisory Council (Individuals with Developmental Disabilities Equity and Access Solutions) plays a pivotal role in guiding DHSโs vision of a connected, supported, safe, and well community for all Denver residents.
What the Council Does
As part of the IAC, Julissa joins a dedicated group of individualsโmany with lived experienceโwho work to:
Prioritize funding for services that support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD)
Advise on programs and resources to ensure they reflect the true needs of the community
Champion access, equity, and inclusion across all services and systems
Lift the voices of marginalized groups, particularly those often left out of traditional decision-making processes

Representing the Spanish-Speaking Community
Julissaโs appointment brings an essential perspective to the table: that of Coloradoโs Spanish-speaking and immigrant communities, who often face systemic and cultural barriers when trying to advocate for their loved ones with disabilities.
โToo often, families in the Spanish-speaking community are afraid to raise their voicesโor donโt know where to turn. Iโm proud to help be that voiceโto represent, empower, and elevate a community that deserves to be seen and supported.โ
Julissaโs work on the council will focus on ensuring that all programs, funding decisions, and community engagements are inclusive, linguistically accessible, and rooted in cultural humility.
Gratitude & Purpose
Julissa extends heartfelt thanks to Denver Human Services and Executive Director Anne-Marie Braga for entrusting her with this opportunity.
โThis isnโt just a seat at the tableโitโs a responsibility. I will use it to speak up, show up, and make sure every voice counts.โ
