Free Vaccine Clinic: Measles Is Back—And It’s Spreading Fast | A Message from Julissa Soto
What was once thought to be a disease of the past is making an alarming comeback—measles is here, and it's spreading fast. This is not a drill. It's a public health emergency in the making, and Colorado is no longer an exception. As a national Latino health equity advocate, I am raising my voice today alongside other trusted community leaders to sound the alarm: We must act now.

A Preventable Crisis at Our Doorstep
Measles is one of the most contagious diseases known to humanity. If you're unvaccinated and exposed, there’s a 90% chance you’ll catch it. It spreads through the air and can linger in a room for up to two hours. And contrary to the belief that it’s “just a rash,” measles can lead to severe complications—pneumonia, brain damage, and even death.
We are standing on the edge of a completely preventable epidemic. The good news? There is a powerful, safe, and proven solution: vaccination.
Leaders United for Health Equity
I am proud to join voices with bold leaders who care deeply about the health of our communities:
🎙️ Flor Alvidrez, District 7 Representative: “Health equity must include vaccines.”
🎙️ Xóchitl Gaytán, Director of District 2: “Without health, there is no education.”
We’re not waiting for permission. We’re organizing, educating, and taking our message directly into the communities we love—because our time to act is running out.
Free Vaccine Clinics—No Barriers, Just Protection
We’ve worked alongside community partners to eliminate barriers and expand access:
✅ Free immunizations—no insurance required
✅ After-hours clinics to accommodate working families
✅ Bilingual flyers and culturally validated outreach for trusted care experiences
The MMR vaccine (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) is 97% effective with two doses. It’s available, it’s safe, and it can save lives.

What You Can Do—Right Now
This is not just a public health issue. It’s a community mobilization moment. Here’s how you can help:
✔️ Check your vaccine records
✔️ If you’re unsure—get vaccinated anyway
✔️ Stay home if you feel sick and call your provider
✔️ Share this message—someone’s life may depend on it
Every unvaccinated person is a potential link in a deadly chain. Break the chain. Be the voice. Lead the charge.
Together, We Can Stop This
We’ve beaten measles before. With unity, education, and action, we can do it again. But we can’t afford to wait. Tomorrow may be too late.
Join me. Start your campaign—in your district, your school, your neighborhood. Let’s protect our families, uplift our communities, and demand health equity for all.
